The attire of the wealthy lady at Court in the Medieval period included rather extravagant headdresses. In the 14th Century, the fashions altered again, especially for men. With the long tunic being replaced by a padded jerkin and leggings. Sometimes the leggings were one colour for one leg and a different colour for the other. Around the 1480's fashionable men wore skullcaps under large heats with upturned brims decorated with plumes. They wore gowns open at the front but long enough to trail behind them, and long sleeves. By the end of the 15 Century short clothes became fashionable again, with only the lawyers and clergy wearing long. |
