DRINK & DECOR

The basic drinks until the 17th Century were beer, ale, mead, wine & fermented fruit juices. Sweet, fruity punches would appropriate for the occasion. So is mulled wine, though not to everyone's taste as it is best drunk hot.

Long tables are most suitable for a medieval feast. Colours vary but usually a green material is used as a cloth. Another idea is to use green crepe paper - maybe with heraldic motifs.

Baskets, wooden plates, trays and bowls are effective, lined with similar material, then filled with fruit, flowers and vegetables.

Evergreens, used as decoration are in keeping with the period. Another idea is to have low lighting and candles to give a more realistic atmosphere. For a location see Peckforton Castle in venues.
