THE FEAST

They incorported many Greek elements into their way of life, so there would be an elaborate centre piece and plenty of wine, fresh fruit and raw vegetables.

Swedes, turnips, shallots, spring onions, leeks, mushrooms.

Breads, spices, sauces and cheese would be there. Also cakes - like honey cake or cookies made of nuts and honey.

Various meats are served, quite often in some kind of sauce. An example - chicken & hazelnuts in wine.

Goblets would not be as we think of traditionally but more like those seen at the lower right hand side of this page. Filled with wine or mead.
