Gold filled is a thin sheet of either 12 carat gold or 14k gold
( American origin ), bonded to the surface of a base metal core.
Less likely to cause allergic reactions, as it has far more gold than the thinner
coating of gold in gold plate. All earrings that are made to go with g/p necklaces
have gold filled studs/hooks.
